Dantae Support Services Newsletter | 9th Edition

Message from our Founder Lill Egan
![]() I want to take a moment to recognise the incredible people who make Dantae Support Services what it is today.
To our support workers, I want you to know how deeply valued you are. You are the people beside our participants every day, supporting them through the ordinary moments and the difficult ones. You help people feel safe, respected, heard and included. The work you do takes patience, compassion, resilience and genuine care, and I am incredibly proud of the commitment you continue to show to our participants and to Dantae Support Services.
I also want to separately acknowledge our amazing office team. So much of what happens behind the scenes is because of your hard work. From coordinating services, rostering, compliance, training, finance, administration and supporting staff, to solving problems and keeping everything moving forward, your contribution is essential. A special acknowledgement also goes to our General Manager, who works tirelessly to keep everything together. The responsibility of overseeing so many moving parts, supporting the office team, guiding staff, managing challenges and keeping Dantae Support Services moving in the right direction is enormous. Your commitment, leadership and ability to hold everything together does not go unnoticed, and I am truly grateful for the role you play in supporting both our team and our participants.
What makes me most proud is the way our office team and support workers continue to work together with one shared purpose — to provide the best possible support to the people who trust Dantae Support Services with their care. Dantae Support Services was built on family values, compassion and a genuine desire to make a difference. Every time you support a participant, help a colleague, solve a problem or go that extra step, you are carrying those values forward.
Thank you for your loyalty, your commitment and the heart you bring to Dantae Support Services. I am incredibly proud of this team and grateful for everything you continue to give. One of the most meaningful changes we have seen is Morgan's increasing ability to do things independently without needing to be prompted. These moments may seem small to some, but they represent something much bigger — confidence, independence and a growing belief in personal abilities.
Morgan is also making more independent choices and becoming increasingly involved in decisions that affect day-to-day life. Seeing Morgan express personal preferences, make decisions independently and take greater ownership of individual goals is something we are extremely proud of.
This progress is not about rushing or comparing Morgan's journey to anyone else's. It is about recognising each achievement, every step forward and every moment where Morgan chooses to back themself.
Morgan continues to move towards personal goals in a way that reflects individual interests, values and aspirations for the future. Watching that confidence develop has been incredibly rewarding for everyone involved in providing support.
At Dantae Support Services, we believe success is found in these real moments — when a participant feels confident enough to make a choice, complete something independently or take another step towards a personal goal.
Morgan, we are so proud of you. Your determination, growth and increasing independence have not gone unnoticed. Every step you take is your own achievement, and it is a privilege to support you as you continue moving forward.
Keep believing in yourself, Morgan. You are doing an amazing job, and we are so proud of how far you have come. 💜 Inclusive Activity 🎃 Halloween Fun 👻 Paint or Carve a Spooky Pumpkin! Dantae Support Services invites participants, families and support workers to get into the Halloween spirit with a fun, creative and inclusive pumpkin decorating activity! Whether it's a spooky face, a silly monster, a friendly ghost or a colourful Halloween masterpiece, everyone can join in and create something uniquely their own.
Choose to paint, decorate, design or carve a pumpkin based on individual interests, abilities and preferences. There's no right or wrong way to create your Halloween masterpiece!
Steps / Procedure:
The activity can be adapted to individual abilities and sensory preferences using larger brushes, easy-grip materials, pre-drawn templates, tactile decorations or communication aids. Participants can direct the design and make creative choices even when someone else completes the physical tasks. Always use appropriate supervision and avoid open flames.
Benefits to Participants: This Halloween activity encourages creativity, self-expression, choice and control, fine-motor skills and social connection. It gives participants, families and support workers an opportunity to celebrate Halloween together, share a few laughs and enjoy the excitement of creating something spooky! 🎃

Tips and Resources Tip: Keeping Your Outdoor Spaces Safe and Enjoyable 🌿 Yard and home maintenance can make a real difference to a participant’s safety, independence and enjoyment of their home. A tidy garden, clear pathways, trimmed lawns and accessible outdoor areas can reduce hazards while creating a welcoming space to relax, socialise or enjoy gardening.
Start by identifying outdoor tasks the participant finds difficult due to their disability, such as mowing, weeding or maintaining safe access around the home. Consider simple changes like raised garden beds, easy-care plants and accessible seating to make outdoor spaces more enjoyable.
The NDIS may fund certain Essential Yard Maintenance tasks where disability-related needs meet funding requirements. Check the participant’s plan and applicable NDIS guidelines before arranging services, as general home repairs, improvements and landlord responsibilities are not automatically funded. Tip: Finding a Home That Fits Your Life 🏡 NDIS housing and living options are about more than finding somewhere to stay. The right home should support a participant’s independence, safety, comfort and personal preferences while giving them genuine choice over where, how and with whom they live.
When exploring Housing Options, consider accessibility, location, privacy, daily routines, social connections and the level of support required. Think about what makes a house feel like home, whether that means living independently, sharing with others or having support available throughout the day.
The NDIS offers different home and living supports, including Supported Independent Living (SIL), Individualised Living Options (ILO) and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) for eligible participants. Each serves a different purpose, and funding eligibility varies. Understanding these differences helps participants and families make informed decisions that reflect their goals and preferred lifestyle.
