Dantae Support Services provides practical Yard & Household Maintenance Support for participants who need appropriate assistance managing essential tasks around their home and outdoor areas.
Support is planned around the participant's circumstances, preferences, goals and agreed needs. The aim is not to take control of someone's home — it is to help make everyday living more manageable while preserving dignity, independence, choice and control.
What Is Yard & Household Maintenance Support?
Yard & Household Maintenance Support is practical assistance with appropriate tasks around a participant's home that may be difficult, unsafe or unreasonable for them to complete because of disability.
For one person, that might mean regular lawn mowing and garden maintenance. For someone else, it might mean occasional help assembling furniture, adjusting a loose cabinet hinge or staying on top of simple low-risk maintenance tasks around the home.
The type and frequency of support will depend on the participant's individual circumstances, NDIS plan and funding, service agreement, location and whether Dantae Support Services can safely and appropriately provide the requested task.
The focus remains simple: helping people maintain a home environment that feels safe, comfortable and manageable.
Yard & Garden Maintenance
A yard does not need to look like a display garden to make a difference. Keeping lawns, paths, garden areas and outdoor spaces manageable can support safety, accessibility, comfort and the ability to enjoy being at home.
Depending on the participant's needs and the agreed service scope, Yard & Garden Maintenance may include:

lawn mowing and edging

whipper-snipping

weeding and general garden tidying

light gardening and garden-bed maintenance

appropriate light pruning

clearing leaves and ordinary garden debris

keeping paths and commonly used outdoor areas clear

watering and basic plant care

ordinary green-waste clean-up generated by the agreed work

regular or occasional yard-maintenance visits.
Participants remain involved in decisions about their home. If there are particular plants, garden areas, pets, gates, access arrangements or personal preferences we need to know about, these can be discussed before support begins.
Practical Help Around the Home
Not every household task needs a tradesperson, but that does not mean every person can safely complete it themselves.
Dantae Support Services may be able to assist with appropriate minor, low-risk, non-trade household maintenance tasks that fall within the agreed service scope.
Examples may include:

tightening loose handles or non-structural fittings

adjusting cabinet hinges and similar minor household items

changing ordinary light globes where safe and appropriate

If a requested job falls outside our service scope, we will say so rather than attempting work that should be completed by an appropriately qualified tradesperson or specialist.

Yard & Household Maintenance Support is intended for appropriate everyday yard work and minor low-risk household tasks. It is not a replacement for licensed trades, specialist contractors or NDIS Home Modification services.
Dantae Support Services does not provide this service as electrical, plumbing, gas-fitting, structural-building or specialist appliance-repair work.
Tasks that may require a suitably licensed or specialist provider include:

roof work or work requiring unsafe access at height

It’s More Than Just Getting the Lawn Mowed
For a participant, practical assistance around the home is not simply about paying someone to do a chore.
A task that seems straightforward to one person may require strength, balance, bending, lifting, fine motor control, endurance or physical movement that another person finds difficult or unsafe because of disability.
The purpose of good support is not to assume what a participant can or cannot do. It is to understand where assistance is genuinely useful and provide that assistance in a way that respects the person's abilities, preferences and independence.
Some participants may want a task completed for them. Others may want to be involved, make decisions about their garden or household, or complete part of the activity themselves.
There is no single way support has to look.
How Should This Support Feel?
It should feel reliable, respectful and uncomplicated.
You should know what has been agreed, what the worker is there to do and when the support will occur.
Your home should be treated with respect. Gates should be closed, pets and access arrangements should be considered, personal belongings should be handled appropriately and workers should communicate if they identify something outside the agreed task.
Most importantly, needing physical assistance with a household or yard task should never mean being made to feel embarrassed, incapable or excluded from decisions about your own home.

Can NDIS funding be used for lawn mowing or yard maintenance?
NDIS funding may be able to be used for appropriate yard or household tasks where the need for assistance relates to the participant's disability and the support is consistent with their individual NDIS plan and funding arrangements.
Every participant's circumstances are different, and Dantae Support Services cannot guarantee that a particular task will be funded. If you are unsure, we can discuss the support you are looking for and you may also wish to confirm your individual funding arrangements with the NDIA, Plan Manager or relevant support professional.

What yard-maintenance tasks can Dantae Support Services assist with?
Depending on the agreed service scope, support may include lawn mowing, edging, whipper-snipping, weeding, light gardening, appropriate pruning, clearing leaves, garden tidying and maintaining commonly used outdoor areas.
The exact service will depend on the property, participant needs, worker competency, equipment and whether the requested task can be completed safely.

Can you provide regular lawn and garden maintenance?
Yes, regular or occasional Yard & Garden Maintenance may be available depending on the participant's location, support needs, funding arrangements and current service capacity.
Our team can discuss the frequency and type of assistance required before services commence.

Do you provide minor maintenance inside the home?
Dantae Support Services may be able to assist with suitable low-risk, non-trade household tasks such as assembling appropriate furniture, tightening minor fittings, adjusting cabinet hinges and similar everyday maintenance.
Tasks are considered individually before support begins.

Do you provide plumbing, electrical or building work?
No. Yard & Household Maintenance Support is not intended to replace licensed trades or specialist contractors.
Electrical work, plumbing, gas work, structural building work and other regulated or specialist tasks should be completed by appropriately qualified providers.
