Message from our Founder Lill Egan

Lill Egan Smiling outdoors wearing a purple Dantae Support Services shirt.

Change can create uncertainty, especially when it affects the supports people rely on every day. Over recent months, many participants, families, carers and providers have understandably been asking what the latest NDIS reforms may mean for their services, funding and future.

From 1 July 2026, new requirements commenced for Supported Independent Living providers, including a dedicated SIL registration group, new SIL Practice Standards and updated claiming arrangements. These changes are intended to strengthen safety, quality, consistency and accountability across the sector.

At Dantae Support Services, our preparation did not begin on 1 July. Our team has been working carefully behind the scenes to understand the changes and ensure we were ready.

This work has included reviewing policies and procedures, strengthening documentation, updating systems, checking service practices, supporting staff training and ensuring our team understands the standards expected of registered providers. Much of this work may never be visible during an ordinary day of support, but it is essential to providing services that are safe, consistent, accountable and centred around each participant.

We understand that industry-wide changes can create important questions.

-Will my supports continue?

-Will the people who understand my needs still be there?

-Will my routines or living arrangements be disrupted?

Our message to participants and families is simple:

Dantae Support Services is a registered NDIS provider, and our care will continue.

Our commitment remains focused on providing respectful, person-centred support built around each participant’s needs, goals, preferences, routines, dignity, safety, choice and control. Registration is not simply a title or a certificate. It represents ongoing responsibility for quality systems, worker screening, staff development, incident management, complaints processes, record keeping and continuous improvement.

The NDIS will continue to evolve, and further changes may occur across the industry. Dantae Support Services will continue monitoring official updates, preparing our team, strengthening our systems and communicating openly whenever changes may affect the people we support.

To our participants, families, carers, staff and community partners, thank you for your patience, trust and continued support. Every policy reviewed, training session completed and system updated has one purpose: to help ensure the people who rely on us continue to feel safe, heard, respected and supported.

Whatever changes occur around us, our promise remains steady.

Dantae Support Services will continue showing up with compassion, accountability and care that places the person at the centre of every decision.

Participant Success Story

Riley’s Goals Are Taking Shape 🎓💼

We are proud to celebrate Riley

—a pseudonym used to protect the participant’s privacy—

Who independently enrolled at university to study a Bachelor of Psychology, and is now completing the final stages of an application for an administration role that can be performed from home. These are two incredible goals that are right on track, and Dantae Support Services is standing by, ready to offer assistance whenever Riley asks while respecting their independence, choice and control. 💜

Inclusive Activity

✂️ Create a “Things I Love” Collage 🎨

Dantae Support Services invites participants, families and support workers to

create a personalised collage showing the people, places, activities, colours and interests that bring happiness, comfort or confidence. The activity can be completed at home using drawings, printed photos, magazine cut-outs, stickers, textured materials or simple written words.

Steps / Procedure:

  • Choose a theme, such as Things I Love, My Happy Place or What Makes Me Smile.

  • Gather safe craft materials, including paper, cardboard, magazines, photographs, stickers, crayons, paint or fabric pieces.

  • Cut, draw or select images and words that represent the participant’s interests and personality.

  • Arrange the items on the page before gluing them into place.

  • Add the participant’s name, artwork title or a short sentence explaining the collage.

  • Take a clear photograph of the finished artwork.

  • Submit the photo and a short caption to marketing@dantae.com.au for possible inclusion in the next newsletter.

Participants can complete the activity independently or receive assistance with cutting, positioning materials, writing captions or taking photographs. Adapt the activity by using pre-cut shapes, larger materials, tactile items, digital images or communication aids where helpful.

Benefits to Participants

This creative activity supports choice and control, self-expression, communication,

fine-motor skills and social connection. It also gives families and support workers an opportunity to learn more about what matters to the participant while creating something meaningful that can be proudly displayed and shared.

Where a participant, staff member or other identifiable person appears in the submitted photograph, a current Multi-Media Consent Form must be completed before publication. Photos showing only the artwork, hands or craft materials are encouraged where someone prefers not to appear.

Community Activities

It may be particularly enjoyable for people living with dementia, learning difficulties or neurodiversity. Tips and Resources

Short-Term Accommodation

Tip: Making a Short Stay Feel Familiar 🌙

Short-Term Accommodation (STA) should feel like more than simply spending time away from home. A well-planned stay can include support with personal care, meals, everyday routines, community activities and other disability-related needs while helping the participant feel safe, comfortable and respected.

Before the stay, prepare a simple guide covering the participant’s communication style, preferred meals, sleep routine, personal care preferences, interests and anything that may cause anxiety. Familiar routines, clear information and meaningful activities can make a new environment feel less overwhelming while supporting confidence and independence.

Individualised Living Options

Tip: Planning Home Life Around the Person 🏡

Individualised Living Options (ILO) supports participants to explore and design a living arrangement based on their individual goals, relationships, routines and preferences. It may bring together paid workers, family members, friends, neighbours or community supports rather than relying on one standard model of assistance.

A helpful starting point is to discuss what an ordinary, comfortable day should look like for the participant. Consider privacy, shared spaces, household responsibilities, visitors, meals, safety, support boundaries and backup arrangements so the participant’s voice remains central as their living situation develops.

Staff Spotlight

Employee of the Month

Employee of the Month is Xinnie in recognition of the positive impact she has already made as a new team member. Despite being relatively new to the team, she has quickly demonstrated confidence, initiative and a willingness to learn. She has shown great ability to pick up on details and identify things that may otherwise go unnoticed, while also being comfortable asking questions and seeking clarification to ensure her work is completed to a high standard.

Xinnie has also adapted well with the SW team and has built positive working relationships with both staff and participants. Her confidence continues to grow, and she approaches her role with a positive attitude, genuine interest and commitment. She is a valued member of the team.

In Light of this Xinnie has moved up to Senior Support Worker.

Congratulations Xinnie, well done.
